The Lutz family got started in the baking business 230 years ago in the Black Forest region of Germany. In 1948 Mr. and Mrs. Fred C. Lutz brought this tradition of excellence to Chicago when they opened their pastry shop in its present location.        

Soon their growing clientele asked for a place to sit down and enjoy the pastries. This inspired Mrs. Lutz to open a café to accomodate them.

They’ve been delighting customers with award-winning desserts, exceptional wedding cakes and unique dining ever since. Lutz is pleased to offer a line of exclusive gourmet coffees that live up to this reputation for excellence.
