Baumkuchen

Christmas specials

Though it takes a long time to make, Lutz  has always served this German delicacy.

The Pearsons imported a machine from Germany to allow the making of  Baumkuchens, which, as pretzels in a German bakery, beckon customers into Konditoreis.

Baumkuchens are moist almond sponge cakes: as successive thin layers bake on, concentric circles form what look like the rings of a tree when the cake is sliced open.

Baumkuchens are available plain or chocolate covered as Spitzen.
